Freight1 is a UK online load board, at freight1.co.uk, where shippers, forwarders, brokers and customs agents post loads and hauliers find work and backloads. Members deal with each other directly. Freight1 checks accounts and documents and charges a flat membership instead of a cut of each job.
This page is for anyone deciding whether to trust us with their freight or their trucks: who we are, how we work and how to reach a person. If you’re ready to try the platform, see how it works.
Our story
Freight1 started with a simple observation from the haulage yard: trucks drive home empty while shippers struggle to find capacity, and the gap is filled by brokers who take a margin from both sides. The Department for Transport’s figures put the scale of it in black and white: 30% of the distance UK lorries drove in 2024 was empty. We built a board where the two sides meet directly, starting with port container work out of Felixstowe, Southampton and London Gateway, some of the hardest jobs to cover at short notice. Then we added the checks, tracking and ratings that make dealing direct feel safe.
How we work
Our team approves new accounts, checks the licence and insurance documents hauliers upload, and keeps the board clean of duplicate and expired listings. When a member has a problem with a job, a billing question or a suspicious contact, they can phone or email the team directly. We don’t broker loads and we don’t take part in the jobs on the board. That independence is the point: we have no reason to favour one haulier or one shipper over another. If you’d like to know exactly what we check, read about verification.
Contact
Call 020 7692 8773 or email support@freight1.co.uk. You can also use the contact page. Account, billing and verification questions go straight to the team that runs the board. If you’re reporting suspected fraud on a listing, include the listing link and any phone numbers or emails you were given, and we’ll investigate and suspend the account if needed.
Press and partnerships
We’re happy to share anonymised board data for articles on UK haulage, such as typical container rates by port lane or how much work is posted for return legs. Email support@freight1.co.uk with “Press” in the subject line. Trade associations, port community systems, telematics providers and insurers interested in working with us can use the same address.
